Remembering God's Faithfulness

The philosopher George Santayana once said,

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

In the book of Joshua, we find a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering God's faithfulness.

Joshua begins by recounting the history of the Israelites and how God led them to the promised land. He reminds the people that it was God, and God alone, who brought them to this point. From the victories in battle to the provisions of land and resources, it was all God's doing.

As Christians, we, too, need to remember who we are and whose we are.

Our identity is not in our own achievements or efforts but in the work of Jesus Christ. We are invited into God's story, not because of our own greatness, but because of God's goodness.

Joshua calls the Israelites to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, to fear Him, and to put away idols and divided loyalties. Similarly, we are called to serve God alone, to steward the gifts and blessings He has given us, and to make much of Jesus in all that we do.

It's easy to get caught up in self-serving Christianity, where we prioritize our own interests and desires.

But true Christianity is about surrendering to God's lordship and recognizing that all we have comes from Him.

We are called to live in reverence and worship of Him, acknowledging His sovereignty in every aspect of our lives.

So let us remember who we are and whose we are.

Let us not forget God's faithfulness and the blessings He has bestowed upon us.

May our lives be a testament to His goodness and may we serve Him wholeheartedly, making much of Jesus in all that we do.

Choose today whom you will serve. Choose to serve the Lord alone.
