ABOUT

The scriptural basis of this dedication is found in 1 Samuel: “For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I have asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated.” As parents, we should dedicate ourselves to provide for our children everything necessary for their growth physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The responsibility of parents is to lead their children, in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, into a knowledge of Jesus Christ, so that the child will develop a desire to know God personally and intimately (Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Ephesians 6:4).

Dedication is not a baptism; it cannot impart grace or salvation to your child. Salvation only comes as each person recognizes their sinful nature and receives forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior. As a church we make a commitment to do everything we can to support you and your family as you fulfill the call of God upon your lives.

REQUIREMENTS

• Child must be between 0-5 years old.

• Parent(s) must submit information, including one picture of their child for display in services (can use family picture). To submit your information, click on the registration button at the bottom of this page. Pictures must be emailed to sierra@fccdc.com.

PARENT COMMITMENTS

To thankfully recognize your child(ren) as God’s gift to you and your family.

• To purpose in your hearts to be committed to each other. When you grow together as husband and wife, or grow in your walk with the Lord as a single parent, you provide a loving, stable, and secure environment needed for your child to mature.

• To purpose in your hearts to be parents of personal faith; to recognize that your children are more likely to accept Christ as Lord if you do, more likely to respect people if you do, more likely to pray, read the Bible, and attend church by the model they first observe in you.

• To purpose in your hearts to be parents of patience; to recognize that your desire to shape this gift of God with his or her inherent strengths and weaknesses is a task that requires time, prayer, and God’s working to produce in your children what He and you hope for.

• To purpose in your hearts to spend quality time with your child. Each new day brings an opportunity to watch your child grow and develop. Strive to enjoy each precious moment together.
