Jesus and the Open Door of Obedience

Have you ever found yourself standing before an open door, unsure of whether to step through?

Maybe you're hesitant because you feel unprepared or unworthy.

Or perhaps you're overwhelmed by the weight of the decisions you have to make.

In life, we are faced with countless decisions every day.

According to Psychology Today, the average person makes around 35,000 decisions each day, adding up to nearly 1 billion decisions over a lifetime. (source)

It's natural to question whether we are making the right choices.

But here's the good news: as followers of Christ, we serve a ready-or-not God.

Our feelings of readiness or qualification are not prerequisites for God to open doors in our lives. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of people who felt unqualified or ill-prepared, yet God used them in incredible ways.

Abraham thought he was too old, Timothy thought he was too young, and Esther believed she was the wrong gender.

Moses struggled with his speech, Gideon questioned his tribe, and Paul had a criminal background.

Despite their doubts and insecurities, God opened doors for them and used them for His purposes.

It's important to remember that every door is a decision. Our willingness to step through those doors, even when we feel unready, is an act of obedience. We may not have all the answers or feel fully equipped, but we serve a God who is already prepared.

As C.S. Lewis once said,

God can use even the wrong road to bring us to the right place.

Our obedience to God's open doors requires sacrifice and a surrendering of our own agendas. It means abandoning our idols of comfort, convenience, and self.

It means believing in God's promises and committing to a new journey, one that brings Him glory.

So, what doors has God opened in your life? Are you hesitant to step through them because of self-doubt, fear, or a sense of inadequacy?

Remember that our God's grace is greater than all the wrong decisions we may make.

His power can work through our weaknesses and use even our failures to bring about His purposes.

Let us embrace open-door obedience, not just for our own sake but for the sake of others. Our obedience can impact the lives and eternities of those around us.

It's time to abandon our old ways, believe in God's promises, and commit to living a life that brings Him glory.

Are you ready to step through the open doors of obedience?

Ready or not, let's trust in our ready-or-not God and walk boldly into the plans He has for us.
